02/02 Meeting Minutes

Committee Reports:

  • Planning and Operations:  Committee will meet Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7:00 pm – Caretaker’s Residence

  • Events & Outreach:  Columbus Historical Society is interested  in participating in Gates Dedication event.  Terry Sherburn  is making design revisions on Gate lanterns.   Lantern fabrication will affect event date.

Chris moved and Maddy seconded that the FGP web hosting be moved to CiviCRM at a cost of $15.00 per month plus an initiation cost of $20.00.

 Motion approved.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 pm at 1219 Harrison Ave.

  • Development and Finance:  Next meeting will be Monday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 pm at 1033 Brentnell Ave.  Malcolm will exhibit elephant model at that time.  Board is encouraged to attend.

Volunteer Coordinator:  Julie led a discussion about the Volunteer Recognition event.   The consensus was that the event should be held in the park and that Oct. was a good month for it.  Micki has indicated she will be responsible for the event.  2011Coordinator contract to be signed at the conclusion of Board meeting.

CR&PD:   Dennison Ave. parking lot to be stripped pending a break in the weather.  Lot may be closed to do so.

Treasurer’s Report:  Andy presented an overview of the Bixler Memorial Fund (administered by the Columbus Foundation).  The fund was established from the Joel Bixler estate as a maintenance endowment for Goodale Park via the Friends of Goodale Park.  Although the fund is administered by the Columbus Foundation, it is a stipulated fund expressly for the use by Friends of Goodale Park.  Income from the Fund accrues to the FGP treasury twice per year.

Andy then presented an historical overview of FGP finances over the past seven years together with a February Treasurer’s Report.

Action Item: There was consensus that the Board needs to develop an annual budget based on each Committee’s budget needs relative to the activities and needs of each committee.  Each committee should come prepared to the March Board meeting to present its respective budget needs for 2011.

Other Business:  Chris reported that the Short North Foundation is looking for nominations for the Unsung Hero Award.  Tim Wagner was suggested.  Other suggestions should be given to Chris.

March Board Meeting: Wednesday, March 2, 2011, 7:00 pm at the Caretaker’s Residence
